Instant Success: Early Access

All he does is get up there and sing. Imagine going all over the world and getting paid to kick that soccer ball around. What a lucky person, they have this gift and it got discovered, now they are making so much money. Look at that painting, they made that in it’s worth a crazy amount. It probably didn’t even take them that long.

Why do we so often ignore time and effort? Why do we want our success to come to us overnight? To be halfway up the mountain; now, this instant. I want to be… it doesn’t matter, if you don’t put in the effort.

It took Michelangelo over 2 years to carve David out of stone. 842 days working on the same task.

Here’s Gary Vaynerchuck talking about the myth of overnight success. It’s an easy way out, I tried it once and it didn’t work. Now let me jump on Instagram and check out what’s new. Wow, check out what this person just tweeted. Let’s now lie to ourselves:

Here’s a quote that I always think about when there is a journey in front of me:

“Don’t wish it was easier, wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems, wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenges, wish for more wisdom. The major value in life is not what you get. The major value in life is what you become. Success is not to be pursued; it is to be attracted by the person you become.”

Jim John

We will never know the time and effort it took someone to get to where they are. It’s a long game and most of us don’t want to play it. Heck I bet most of us don’t even want to give the 10 minutes it takes to watch both parts of this video essay:

Get on the path to mastery. If you aren’t failing and falling then you aren’t learning. Remember it’s a journey of a thousand miles. It all starts with the first step, then the second. They key is to not stop. There will be delays and disappointments, don’t look back. Keep moving forward.
